Through observing the wear regions of drills by SEM, results show that the failure of drills is mainly due to crack and flake of the coatings that results from the plastic deformation of the drills substrate in the chisel regions, wear form is mechanical and adhesive in major cutting edges, and in outer corner regions, the wear failure exhibits mechanical and adhesive at lower speed & thermal oxidation and plastic deformation at higher speed.
进一步用SEM对钻头磨损区域的观察表明,横刃区主要由于强烈的挤压作用使基体产生塑性变形,导致涂层因开裂和剥落而失效;主切削刃中间部分一般为机械磨损和粘结磨损;而外缘转角区,在切削速度较低时也表现也为机械磨损和粘结磨损,在切削速度较高时则热氧化和热塑性变形成为主要的磨损失效形式。
