abstract:In the human brain, the parietal operculum is an area of the parietal lobe that, with portions of the temporal and frontal lobes, forms the operculum that covers the insula. The part of the parietal operculum that forms the ceiling of the lateral sulcus functions as the secondary somatosensory cortex.
