It earned the label by meeting standards developed by the Indian GreenBuildingCouncil, the local chapter of U.S. GreenBuildingCouncil, which created LEED standards. (Here I must give a shout-out to my hometown San Francisco International Airport, whose Terminal 2 also won gold certification, soon after Delhi did.) Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad also won a LEED-Silver rating.
To that end, today TripAdvisor launched a new rating service called TripAdvisor Green Leaders, in partnership with Energy Star, the U.S. GreenBuildingCouncil and the United Nations Environment Program.
The voluntary challenge was quickly adopted by many industry groups and governments, including the American Institute of Architects, the U.S. GreenBuildingCouncil, the National Governors Association, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
