abstract:The southern bottlenose whale (Hyperoodon planifrons) is a species of whale, in the ziphiid family, one of two members of the Hyperoodon genus. Seldom observed and rarely hunted, the southern bottlenose whale is probably the most abundant whale in Antarctic waters.
