abstract:The Tomb of Askia, in Gao, Mali, is believed to be the burial place of Askia Mohammad I, one of the Songhai Empire's most prolific emperors. It was built at the end of the fifteenth century and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Present the World Heritage Committee with a detailed report on the state of conservation of World Heritage sites in Mali, notably Timbuktu and the TombofAskia during its next meeting.
The government of Mali will request the inscription of the two World Heritage sites of Timbuktu and the TombofAskia on the List of World Heritage in Danger by the World Heritage Committee during its forthcoming session (24 June to 6 July).
