Israel's controversial "Waltz WithBashir, " an animated film about a soldier's memories of the 1982 war in Lebanon, received a nomination for best foreign-language film.
It's a movie from an Israeli director named Ari Folman, who did "Waltz withBashir" - some listeners might remember it - a political documentary that also was a hybrid back in 2008.
Similarly, if you only saw one film and it happened to be the fabulous "Waltz withBashir" you might have a happier memory of Cannes than if it happened to be Michel Gondry's half-woman, half-chair story.
