abstract:The Western clawed frog (Xenopus tropicalis) is a species of frog in the Pipidae family, also known as Tropical clawed frog or Silurana tropicalis. It is the only species in the Xenopus genus to have a diploid genome.
Butit turns out that about 80 percent ofthegenes known to causediseasesinhumans have counterparts in the genome of Xenopus tropicalis-the western clawedfrognative to sub-Saharan Africa.
