In an apparent response to Apple's iMovie, WinMe will include WindowsMovieMaker, a tool that allows users to digitize, compress, edit, sort and share home videos.
Seeing what video editing software did for iMac sales, Microsoft has produced its own MovieMaker suite, while Windows Image Acquisition lets digital photographers see photos as thumbnails on the desktop without having to copy images to the PC first.
Microsoft's stalwart Photo Gallery and MovieMaker won't be hitting high-end studios anytime soon, but a new refresh for Windows 7 and 8 adds useful features that the teeming masses might appreciate.
