abstract:Jackie Robinson Day is a traditional event which occurs annually in Major League Baseball, commemorating and honoring the day Jackie Robinson made his major league debut. April 15 was Opening Day in 1947, Robinson's first season in the Major Leagues.
Because of the postponement, the Coors Field commemoration of JackieRobinsonDay also was shifted from Monday night to the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Hours later, Major League Baseball went on with ceremonies for the fifth JackieRobinsonDay at stadiums all over the country and north of the border in Toronto.
