An analysis of 10 studies involving a total of 393 patients, published earlier this year in the JournalofThoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, found between 26% and 83% of patients getting the new surgery were able to stop taking proton-pump inhibitors.
Writing in Thorax, the journalof the British Thoracic Society (BTS), the researchers said doctors in London should be particularly aware of the risk that patients with either TB or HIV may also have the other condition.
