Mill is being squeezed from the top and bottom, and the lanky Robbins is perfect for the part: watching him under stress is like seeing a tubeoftoothpaste bunch up in the middle.
These printers use something like a toothpastetubeof plastic or other material held vertically in an X-Y plotter that squirts out thin layers of tiny dots of material that build up, layer by layer, to produce a 3D replica of the computer-generated design.
Also on view are four of his recent "Extrusion" benches, made without nuts and bolts by squeezing red-hot aluminum out of a machine as one might pinch toothpaste out of a plastic tube.
