中国武术协会是推动本项目运动发展，促进武术运动普及和技术水平提高的全国性群众体育社会团体，是中华全国体育总会和中国奥委会的团体成员，是由各省、自治区、直辖市、计划单列市武术协会，各行业体协、高等院校、其他具有合法地位的武术社团组织以及热爱武术事业的个人组成，是武术行业的全国性非营利性社会组织。
