The Wall Street Journal reports that the chain is testing a prototype store near its Minnesota-based headquarters that mimics signature Apple features such as its GeniusBar.
And Apple, which has yet to include indoor maps in its Maps app, is nevertheless employing indoor positioning technology in its Apple Store app to push GeniusBar customers a check-in notification as soon as they enter the retail store.
The genius in the ad seems marginally less annoying than the real Apple geniuses giving you attitude behind the bar at retail stores, but critics have been harsh.
