According to the latest figures by the Office of National Statistics, the conceptionrate for women over 40 has risen by 5.2%, and has more than double since 1990.
Figures just released by the Office for National Statistics shows the rate of teenage conception in 2010 fell below 35, 000 - a drop of nearly 10% on the previous year, and the lowest rate since 1969.
However it has a lower success rate than conventional assisted conception techniques, such as IVF, because ice crystals can form inside the unfertilised egg and damage its contents.
