The resolution calls on Congress to include legislation that provides incentives forenergyefficiency in the design and renovation of schools as it secures funding for new school construction and renovation.
Also, as part of the lifecycle design process, the laptops meet Energy Star 5.0 for high energyefficiency and are rated EPEAT Gold in the U.S. for their environmental attributes.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council that awards points for buildings that incorporate various energyefficiency and water conservation features as well as providing such things as bike racks.
