In the spring they swim north from the Gulf of Mexico along the Gulf Stream, about 60 miles offshore, to the nutrient-rich waters of the Northeast and Canada.

The fish, drifting in the gyre, would grow as the current took them west toward the Yucatan, then north into the Gulf of Mexico and finally into the Gulf Stream where the fish could pass near Miami just as they are good-eatin' size.
