In 1994, a judge who ruled that Mr Cakici was responsible for having the general manager of a big bank shot also said that the attack had been carried out at the behest of the widow of Turgut Ozal, Turkey's liberalising prime minister for much of the 1980s though no such charge was ever made against her.
