Nutty politicians in Poland and Slovakia, baffling stalemates in the Czech Republic and Lithuania and a belief that a chunk of the continent will stay backward may lead voters farther west tofeeldisappointed by past enlargements and to be hostile to any future one.
But they will be disappointed if they seek to understand how governments can deal with the justifiable frustration that people feel, and seek to express, during times of economic turmoil.
He will be bitterly disappointed for the next few days, but as he unwinds and has a chance to reflect he will feel proud of the way he played and very motivated to respond in a positive manner.
