According to communications research firm Yankee Group, there were 130, 000 VoIP subscribers in the U.S. last year.

But the Nexus 7000 really gets interesting, says Yankee Group analyst Zeus Kerravala, when it's combined with another revolutionary IT innovation: virtualization.
The problem with total cost of ownership (TCO) numbers, says Yankee Group analyst Sheryl Kingstone, is that they often mean very little.
"It's going to put an undue administrative burden on customers to make upgrades to their software, " says Gene Signorini, research director at the Yankee Group.
But by 2003, about a third of all kids between the ages of 11 and 17 owned their own cellular phone, according to the Yankee Group.
Market research firm The Yankee Group predicts that 30 percent of all cell phones sold in the U.S. this year will be equipped with a Web browser.

The complaints come as the market for mobile, Internet-connected apps in the United States has grown to 40 apps per user per year, according to the Yankee Group.

Recent interviews with users, carried out by the Yankee Group Europe, a telecoms consultancy, revealed widespread cynicism about global alliances--and an increasing interest in using companies such as Equant.
Only 29% of kids have phones capable of running those programs right now, according to the Yankee Group, but 11% of teens use them--nearly 40% of the potential user base.
"The current business model, selling low-margin goods and delivering them for free, is not viable for the long term, " says Rebecca Nidositko, senior analyst for online retail strategies at Yankee Group.
Nor will Yankee Group's Signorini speculate on Spencer's ruling.
The Yankee Group published a study that projects App Store revenue through 2016 and determined that a quarter of U.S. consumers used the App Store in the last quarter of 2012.
According to the Yankee Group, more than half of all teens between the ages of 13 and 17 are active users of wireless text messaging, sending blurbs using the "SMS" short message service.
But despite its strengths and its reputation with its customers, Jennifer Pigg, an analyst with the Yankee Group, a high-tech consultancy, reckons that the lack of a recognised brand could hold Equant back.
"If Apple gets this supported, it has a shot at rising like a phoenix from the ashes in the world of multimedia computing, " says Steven Vonder Haar, a media analyst with the Yankee Group.
"The market for networked devices is growing rapidly with the proliferation of broadband and the rise of the 'Anywhere Consumer'- those desiring to be connected everywhere they go, " said Carl Howe, director, Yankee Group.

"You have to understand that the timeline for European legislation is very long, and the market has moved on faster than the commission can act, " Susen Sarkar, senior analyst at Yankee Group Europe, told IDG.
