In 1515, when he was 85, he painted a piece of silent poetry that many consider his masterpiece: "Lady with a Mirror" (a detail from which is shown above).

From that time on, he would now and then ask me to complete a quatrain by adding a couplet of my own to one given by him.

I am grateful for the chance to meet with you and your parting, complete with a poem created by God! Untold sorrow to our lives, we will never have to answer.
