丘脑
丘脑又称背侧丘脑是间脑中最大的卵圆形灰质核团，位于第三脑室的两侧，左、右丘脑借灰质团块（称中间块）相连。丘脑在大脑皮层不发达的动物，是感觉的最高级中枢；在大脑皮层发达的动物，是最重要的感觉传导接替站。来自全身各种感觉的传导通路（除嗅觉外），均在丘脑内更换神经元，然后投射到大脑皮质。在丘脑内只对感觉进行粗略的分析与综合，丘脑与下丘脑、纹状体之间有纤维互相联系，三者成为许多复杂的非条件反射的皮层下中枢。
