Walmart is drawing up plans to launch e-commerce operations in China and Japan, as part of a focus on driving sales by expanding its online presence into new global markets, Financial Times reported.

The changes come as Taobao's share of China's online retail transactions has slipped from 75 per cent a year ago to 71.6 per cent in the first quarter this year, according to Analysys.
