This was the first time in China to perform the thermal test for a transport cask.

Taking a spent fuel shipping cask as calculated model, detailed criticality safety, nuclear heat distribution and shielding calculations and sensitivity analysis of some parameters were performed.

"The transportation of nuclear materials such as spent fuel happens on a daily basis across the UK and has done so for more than half a century without incident," he said.
