刹车轮毂的学名为刹车制动鼓，简称刹车鼓，是鼓式刹车系统中的主要部件，刹车时刹车鼓内面与刹车片摩擦起到刹车的作用。其制造材料一般为型号为HT250的灰铁。在司机对车辆部件使用不当或者在严重超载的情况下，可造成刹车轮毂碎裂性损坏，在高速行驶的过程中往往造成人员伤害。
