On Tuesday, Algerian officials said Col Gaddafi's daughter Aisha had given birth to a baby girl hours after crossing over from Libya.

But now, the Algerian foreign ministry has said that Colonel Gaddafi's wife Safia, their daughter Aisha and sons Mohammed and Hannibal have all fled into Algeria.

The next day, three of Qaddafi's female guards, who were there during the visit, went to meet Safiya's mother and told her the Colonel wanted to see her daughter to offer her a gift.
