H4CO4 2008年3月，化学家Sauber Bronster（1976~）在高压低温下反复浓缩提纯碳酸时无意间得到了一种白色分子晶体，经测定其分子结构为H2CO3·H2O，但是经质谱分析得到结果是该晶体分子并不以H2CO3·H2O的形式存在，而是以H4CO4（原碳酸）的形式存在，该晶体在100K以上即迅速分解，对其的研究目前仍在进行中。
