可靠性理论
可靠性理论是研究系统运行可靠性的普遍数量规律以及对其进行分析、评价、设计和控制的理论和方法。大型复杂系统运行是否可靠，可靠程度多大，是大系统设计中的一个很重要的问题，系统的组成部分越多，关系越复杂，系统运行的可靠性就越低。影响可靠性的因素是什么? 可靠性自身的规律如何? 选用怎样的指标评价系统的可靠性? 如何提高系统的可靠性? 等等，都是可靠性理论研究的问题或内容。它以概率论和数理统计为主要研究工具。可靠性理论产生于第二次世界大战，而对其进行系统性的研究则是在50年代进行的。到了60年代，它已广泛应用于许多技术领域，并形成了这门理论的实践性学科— —可靠性工程。目前，还发展出一种对系统出现故障的原因进行研究的学科——故障物理学。故障物理学以为，故障不是偶然出现的，是可以避免的。
