多肽链
细胞核中脱氧核糖核酸 (DNA) 的某一区段转录出来的信使RNA（mRNA）从核孔穿出来进入细胞质中，与核糖体 (Ribosome) 结合起来。蛋白质合成就在核糖体进行。蛋白质开始合成时，首先核糖体与mRNA结合在一起，核糖体附着在mRNA的一端（起动部位），然后沿着mRNA从5′ 3′方向移动（当核糖体向前移动不久，另一个核糖体又结合上去，所以一个mRNA可以有多个核糖体连续上去）。
