Objective To study the spatial pattern of the chigger mite populations on the body surface of small mammals in the surrounding areas of Erhai Lake in Dali of Yunnan, China.

As the new tourist boat illustrates on the shore of Erhai Lake, tourism has become the main industry of the Dali Bai Minority Region, Yunnan Province.

In the north of the long and narrow flatland between Canshan Mountains and Erhai, Xizhou Village lies in Daili Autonomous Prefecture of Bai Nationality, northwest of Yunan Province.
