大蚊
大蚊(crane fly)，双翅目(Diptera)大蚊科(Tipulidae)昆虫。体细长似蚊，足长。有的很小，长的可达3公分(1.2吋)。飞行慢，常见於水边或植物丛中，不叮咬人或牲畜。牧场大蚊(Tipula simplex)卵小而黑，产在阴湿处。孵出的幼虫细长，皮坚韧而褐色。幼虫通常食腐败植物；有些种类的幼虫肉食性；有的危害谷类和牧草的根。一冬都进食，到春天进入休眠。成虫口器退化，无法进食。
