Through the analysis of gas pulsation characteristics in reciprocating compressor and deviation in set pressure, the equation is given for determining the minimum set pressure of safety relief valve.

From spring rigidity and range of set pressure, spring optimize design to same diameter's safety valve at set pressure near blow-down pressure are discussed.
