By seven o'clock the orchestra has arrived—no thin five-piece affair, but a whole pitful of oboes and trombones and saxophones and viols and cornets and piccolos and low and high drums.

Weighing down the movie is a ponderous narration by Max (Pruitt Taylor Vince), a jazz trumpeter, who entrances a dealer of used musical instruments with the story of Nineteen Hundred.

The main reason for playing an instrument, of course, will always be the sheer joy of blowing a horn or banging out chords.
