Its successful application has provided an additional way for the future in the design of pile foundation in port engineering.

Piles socketed in soft rock were traditionally regarded as end bearing piles, and the loads transferred from superstructure were assumed in design to be shouldered totally by the piles.

Some references will be offered for optimal design of bridge pile on the test results, and some new thoughts are obtained in making up for the shortage in the theory of rock-socked pile design.
