微型电网技术就是指将一定区域内或某些企事业单位内拥有的分散的发电资源（例如自行供电的发电设备或备用发电机组、太阳能发电装置、风力发电设备等可再生能源发电装置）联结起来共同向用户供电，并通过配电网与主干大型电力网并联运行，形成一个大型电网与小型发电设备联合运行的系统。从某种意义上来说，当分布式电源达到一定比例时，就可以称之为微型电网。
