First performed in 1926, the opera Turandot still attracts audience from all over the world.

The National Stadium, known as the Bird's Nest, has only one event scheduled for this year: a performance of the opera "Turandot" on Aug. 8, the one-year anniversary of the Olympic opening ceremony.

Chinese director Zhang Yimou staged his Turandot in Beijing's Bird's Nest stadium Tuesday night, 11 years after the opera's debut in the Forbidden City in 1998.
