The ministry's Wuhan branch has decided that because of the introduction of the high-speed trains, it will suspend a number of existing, much-slower counterparts on the same route.

Liu Qiang, Wuhan Railway Administration said "Every day from seven o 'clock in the morning to 8 o 'clock in the evening, we have 88 pairs of trains fully prepared to cater for passengers."

With Wuhan on its way to being a hi-speed railway hub, more and more flights from there to some nearby cities including Nanjing have been cancelled due to the construction of hi speed rail routes.
