Many hotels will not replace your towels if you leave them hanging up neatly; if you're not sure, write a note for the housekeeping staff or notify the front desk.

Every possible space, nook and cranny is used for food storage, clothing, hanging towels - you name it, it's somewhere, even if temporarily unfindable.

Also, in the bathroom, I never have more than one solitary towel hanging on that rack.
