法向加速度，又称向心加速度。在匀速圆周运动中，法向加速度大小不变，方向可用右手螺旋定则确定。质点作曲线运动时所具有的沿轨道法线方向的加速度。其方向总是指向曲线凹的一方。它的大小反映了质点线速度方向的变化快慢。做匀速圆周运动的质点只具有法向加速度。
