Southern corn rust, caused by Puccinia polysora Underw, is a destructive disease in maize.

With the changes of the global climate, cultivation methods and release of new varieties, the maize diseases have changed in recent years in China.

The different classification kernel functions are compared, and analysis shows that the radial base function most suits the corn leaf disease classification recognition.
