Motorola Mobility isn’t just a phone and tablet maker. It also builds television set-top boxes, like the kind you rent from the cable company.

Though documents and reports vary, some estimates are that Motorola's market share topped out at well more than 50 percent in the portable handset phone market.

But right now — in the tablet space at least — the problem for Motorola, Samsung, HP, RIM, and anyone else who is challenging Apple becomes infinitely more difficult.
