The OLED TV USES display technology based on organic materials which emit light naturally, once an electric charge is passed through them, rather than being back-lit as in LCD and Plasma screens.
What they are: Images are created when electricity passes through liquid crystals, a process that prevents screen burn (a problem with plasmas) and also reduces waste heat.
We can afford a new flat screen LCD (or Plasma, or LED-LCD…) TV and in fact have the best buy giftcards in a drawer waiting for our current model to break (it's close to doing so).
