睾丸素(又称睾酮、睾丸酮或睾甾酮)是一种类固醇荷尔蒙，由男性的睾丸或女性的卵巢分泌，肾上腺亦分泌少量睾酮，具有维持肌肉强度及质量、维持骨质密度及强度、提神及提升体能等作用。睾丸素白色结晶性粉末，无气味。熔点152-156℃，比旋光度[α]24D+109°(4%，乙醇)，乙醇溶液在240nm波长处有最大吸收。易溶于乙醇(1：5)和氯仿(1：2)，溶于乙醚(1：100)，不溶于水。LD50 (大鼠，静脉)326 mg/kg。分子式为C19H28O2，分子量为288.424，密度为1.048 g/cm3，沸点为370.65ºC。睾丸素是一种分子量较小的细胞骨架联合蛋白,通过与其他细胞骨架蛋白间的相互结合发生作用。睾丸素是最初从小鼠睾丸支持细胞增菌培养基中鉴定的一种分泌性糖蛋白,可通过受体联合蛋白与细胞表面紧密结合。
