Oscar-winning US actor Michael Douglas, 65, is fighting throat cancer and will undergo chemotherapy, People magazine reported.

The study was published in the February, 2007 issue of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the official journal of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation.

According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology - head and neck Surgery estimates 55,000 Americans will develop some type of head and neck cancer this year.
