A senior anti-Mafia prosecutor in Sicily has said that neither of Cosa Nostra's last two “bosses of bosses” would be in prison if the law had been in force earlier.

The men found themselves under arrest on federal charges that have usually been brought against mafia families or drug cartels, including racketeering, wire fraud, money laundering, and bribery.

Their nightmare is what Tim Wu, a professor at Columbia University, calls "the Tony Soprano vision of networking", alluding to a television series about a mafia family.
