This paper deals with nominal uses of English prepositional phrases (PPs), that is, PPs can grammatically function as subjects and objects (objects of prepositions included)in simple sentences.

This paper, from the syntactic level, analyses some English ambiguous sentences, in which ambiguities are caused by the prepositional phrases.

By using numerous examples from contracts, the writer mainly discusses meanings, usages and translations of the frequently used prepositions and prepositional phrases in business contracts in English.
