This dissertation manly focuses on the issues of wavelength converter optimal placement, limited-range wavelength conversion and virtual topology design.

Both theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the AC DC converter has high efficiency over a wide range of input voltage.

Wide dynamic range, high gain and fine resolution are required of integrators and Analog to Digital Converters in order to limit the effects of noise, including quantization noise.
