Speaking on a visit to Armenia, Mr Sarkozy said collective denial was unacceptable and Turkey should look its history in the face.

In a speech on December 1st, Mr Sarkozy was expected to try to calm the panic, and to persuade voters that surrendering budgetary powers would be beneficial.
