Now a Bristol University dental scientist has discovered that a common bacteria responsible for tooth decay and gum disease can break out into the bloodstream and help blood clots to form.

Some health problems increase the risks associated with having surgery or may be worsened by surgery, such as blood clots, liver disease, heart problems, kidney stones and nutritional deficiencies.

But while these newer devices have reduced the number of repeat procedures needed, they also carry a heightened risk of potentially fatal thrombosis, or blood clots.
