In Fenchurch Street a fair child, in costly apparel, stood on a stage to welcome his Majesty to the city.

With an about 100-year-old history, the Thai capital's Chinatown contains complex streets offering all kinds of tasty treats, clothes, toys and antiques.

"Everybody, anybody, left home and shop, hotel, restaurant, and beer garden to empty into Market Street in a river of color," wrote one young woman of the time.
