Zinc and lead prices have been on a slide since early December despite strengthening economic news in the first months of 2010.

Both nickel and lead have seen available stocks shrink to critically low levels this year and this means that any possible disruption to supplies has had an amplified effect on prices.

Copper resumed a decline in London and New York. Aluminum, zinc, nickel, lead and tin also fell.
